Mariam Azarm
Mariam Azarm serves as Director of Outreach at WIT, where she works to connect the next generation with internship opportunities and help integrate environmental and health-related research into discussions at the United Nations. Her role focuses on fostering youth advocates while supporting WIT’s mission to promote science-backed policy. Azarm holds a bachelor degree from the University of London and a graduate degree from the London School of Economics.
In addition to her work at WIT, Azarm is the founder of Altru Institute, a New York–based think tank focused on accelerating solutions to global humanitarian and environmental challenges. The institute fosters collaboration among leaders in science, policy, and business to scale practical, high-impact innovations. Azarm’s leadership reflects a commitment to bridging the gap between research and real-world impact, ensuring that promising ideas are translated into actionable strategies. Through both WIT and Altru Institute, she continues to champion youth engagement, international cooperation, and interdisciplinary problem-solving on a global scale.
